Matheus Donato
He is passionate about popular culture, from the traditional choro and samba, of which he is a direct descendant, to the new instrumental sound echoing through the imaginary corners of the Brazilian Capital where he was born. All of this grounds his six-string cavaquinho, a unique adaptation of this Luso-Brazilian instrument, which quickly became a piece of his heart beating outside his chest since the age of 12. He soon developed a distinct style, skillfully combining the musical heritage of his country, contemporary sounds, and all the delicacy of his musical signature present in every note. From 2015 to 2020, he traveled various stages, festivals, and recordings, enriching his musical palette through encounters with very diverse artists and projects. These experiences fueled his curiosity, creativity, and shaped his vision of music as it should be: without borders!
As a composer and arranger, he has collaborated with artists as diverse as Yamandu Costa, Baptiste Herbin, Alexis Cárdenas, among others, demonstrating a rare versatility that quickly earned him recognition in the music scene. His compositions, praised for their originality and authenticity, opened doors to prestigious concert halls around the world.
He currently represents a new path and with great maturity and respect, gives voice to a cavaquinho that is uniquely his own, always authentic and with extreme artistic care in his proposals. As the charismatic leader of his trio, he pursues an ambitious musical exploration where tradition and modernity naturally meet. His innovative approach to the six-string cavaquinho redefines the possibilities of the instrument, creating a unique bridge between Brazil’s ancestral rhythms and contemporary musical expressions.
