Rosivaldo Cordeiro
Cultural ambassador of the state of Amazonas in France, Rosivaldo Cordeiro is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and music producer from the city of Manaus.
Rosivaldo stands out for the diversity in his work and performances, skillfully transitioning from classical music to folkloric and popular rhythms from northern and northeastern Brazil.
Based in Paris since 2016 with the special title "Talent et renommée internationale," he carries out his multicultural connection project between the Amazon and France called «CONNEXIONART». In just two years, he has conceived and accomplished significant achievements on behalf of Brazilian music in France, such as: establishing the first Brazilian mandolin course in Paris, celebrating the centenary of Brazilian musician «Jacob do Bandolim» in Paris and Lille, including the unprecedented journey of Jacob’s mandolin outside Brazil for the first time; conceiving and realizing in partnership with the Açaí association the first Lille Choro Festival in northern France; developing a musical fiction based on the work of poet «Georges Brassens» in partnership with Dudu Flexor called «Brassens Brasil»; as well as performing concerts and giving masterclasses in France (Paris, Strasbourg, Marseille, Lille, Brittany, and Auvergne) and in other countries such as the United Arab Emirates (FIAF - Fujairah International Arts Festival), Belgium (Chora Brussels Festival), the Netherlands (Amsterdam Forró Festival), and Djerba, Tunisia.
He was a member of the band “Carrapicho” during a European tour following the success of the song *Tic-tic-tac* in the 1990s. In 2005, he implemented the first public *choro* course in Brazil, at the Claudio Santoro Institute of Arts and Crafts in the state of Amazonas, where he remained until 2010. More than 150 students took part in courses for cavaquinho, 6-string guitar, 7-string guitar, pandeiro, mandolin, and choro ensemble practices. He conceived and directed several music groups, such as the *choro* group Jacobiando, the traditional Amazonian music group Imbaúba, the *guitarrada* band AKbocada, and the group ABandinha. He represented the Jacob do Bandolim Institute from 2004 to 2018.
He is currently dedicated to his projects in collaboration with various French musicians such as Madalena Trabuco, Jef Calmard, Philippe Lafon, Dudu Flexor, and Caldo de Cana. Accompanied by Jef Julien Clarac, Tommy Milharo, Julien Droz, and Adel Khababa, he launched Amazonian *guitarrada* for the first time on European stages in 2016 with the project *Guitarreiro*. Alongside historian and flutist Amarande Laffon, he also launched the project «Métissage - Les origines du Choro», aimed at conservatories and music schools in general, to provide training and information on the foundations of Brazilian music since the 19th century.
